 On Kobe's first day of school she saw Adam
getting beat up. Kobe had just moved from Alaska. She was in the 10th grade and Adam was
in the 8th grade. She didn't understand why Adam got picked on. He kept to himself and
always seemed to have a positive outlook on life. The first time she met Adam face to face
was at a Halloween party. Adam wasn't actually at the party; he was across the street
watching from the curb. Kobe wasn't feeling too good that night. She was sick from alcohol
and upset that her friends left her behind. How was she supposed to get home? Kobe stepped
outside for a fresh breath of air. She ended up passing out on the grass. Kobe remembered
Adam asking if she was OK. She responded by vomiting on his shirt. Adam didn't seem to
mind. Kobe awoke in Adam's arms. He was carrying her home. Trying to speak, she threw up
on Adam again. Again, Adam didn't seem to mind. Arriving at her house, Adam asked Kobe's
permission to unlock her door. All she could do was nod her head "yes". He laid
her down on the bed and wiped away the vomit from her mouth. Adam was kind enough to put a
glass of water next to her bed before he left. After that, Kobe became Adam's only friend
in high school. In her senior year, Kobe realized she loved Adam. But it was too late to
tell him. Adam quit school and disappeared. From time to time, she would see him around.
He was different towards her. Adam wasn't the sweet guy she remembered. Adam started to
push Kobe away. |
